Description

This is a fun, interactive way to teach plurals and singulars to your students. I have included real photographs to draw students in, and the cards separate the base word and suffix so students have a concrete experience of the base word and suffix separately, as well as seeing multiple images when the cards are connected.

Pre-requisite:
These cards are appropriate for approximately ages 5-6 and older Children should be well-versed in reading and spelling CVC words It is up to each teacher’s discretion how many cards and what level a particular child is ready for. The beauty of this work is that it can be modified and adapted by increasing the number of cards.

How to present:

Based on the child’s needs and skill level, consider limiting the number of cards presented.
Observe the child’s ability to identify the base word and the suffix separately.
Note any areas in which a child is struggling or needs guidance and plan to adjust and re-present the work at another time.
High repetition increases retention, as long as the teacher makes the repetition interesting and engaging to the child
