Add variety to your cursive handwriting instruction and inspire your students to learn more about historical figures. They may start to imagine what their own famous signature will look like! This cursive handwriting signature practice activity will help students create their own unique signature.
This lesson can be presented along with other areas of study such as history, art, music, research or use as a stand-alone handwriting lesson. 3rd and 4th graders with a solid grasp of cursive may enjoy the opportunity to explore new font styles and customize their own signature!
How to use this resource:

Prior to this lesson, give students research to do at home. They can ask their adults for samples of cursive handwriting or signatures appropriate to share at school such as cards, recipes, and letters.

Discuss with students why cursive handwriting is used, from the need to sign legal documents, to the enjoyment people get from writing in cursive, calligraphy, and unique font styles.
